What To Expect
When you Visit at Gospel Light Baptist Church

Here are some frequently asked questions about a visit to our church.  Probably the most common time to visit is the Sunday morning service (at 11:00 am).  But any service is a great time to visit!

How long is each service?

Each service is typically just a little over an hour.

What should I expect during the service?

The services generally consist of hymn singing, time to greet each other, Bible reading, prayer, and a sermon. The pastor will ask the congregation to stand at certain times, such as for the hymns.  We do not call out our guests or expect them to stand and introduce themselves.  You will receive a Welcome Packet and we ask that you fill out the registration card and put it in the offering plate or hand it to the Pastor before you leave.  The pen and other things in the packet are yours to keep.

What about the preaching?

The sermon is the highlight of the service - it lasts about 40 minutes.  It may be an application of a Bible passage or a topical study on how the Bible relates to every day issues we may all face.  It is always intended to explain what God's Word says about living our lives in this day and age.

What should I bring?

You do not need to bring anything. If you have a Bible, it will help you follow along with the pastor's sermon. If not, Bibles are located in the lobby for you to borrow.  If you do not own a Bible and would like one please let the Pastor know, he would love to give you one to keep.

 What should I wear?

There is no particular dress code. You will see many men wearing a coat and tie and most of our ladies wear dresses or skirts - this is because we view the gathering of saints to worship God as a special occasion, and we dress accordingly.  But understand that our focus is on your heart, not on your wardrobe.

 What about my children?

Childcare is provided for children through age 5. Most of the time we provide Children's Church during the Sunday Morning service but otherwise all the children sit in the service with the adults as long as they are not disruptive.  Intellectually, the sermon is geared for pre-teens through adults.

Whom do I see if I have a question?

Any of our church members can help answer most questions about where to go or what to do.  For spiritual questions, the Pastor is always available after the service.  As he greets you at the exit door, let them know you'd like to meet with him.   He will usually meet with you right then in his office, but sometimes he will setup an appointment with you to meet later either at the church or in your home.

Well, now that you are a little more prepared…we’ll see you at church!
